Dear Uncle Richard, I am really going to miss you. Although I haven’t seen you in some time you were always my favorite uncle. You just had this charisma about you that I am going to miss. From when I was little and we came to Tennessee to visit how you treated me then through many times you were there for us through thick and thin will always be appreciated and remembered. One of my fondest memories as a kid growing up was when me, daddy, momma and dinky would come visit and we all would sit around playing UNO. You would say Mellow Yellow. Anyways I love you and you will be truly missed. I want to say I remember you saying a song reminded you of daddy every time you herd it on the radio and now that same song is always going to remind me of you now. One day we will see you again Uncle Richard until then your with Jeffrey, grandma, daddy, dinky, momma and so many others please give them a hug and kiss for me.

He said,”I just climbed out of a cottonwood tree
I was runnin’ from some honey bees
Drip dryin’ in the summer breeze
    After jumpin’ into Calico creek
I was walkin’ down an old dirt road
Past a field of hay that had just been mowed
Man I wish you’d just left me alone
    ‘Cause I was almost home”

He said “I was just comin’ round the barn
‘Bout the time you grabbed my arm
When I heard Momma holler, “Son hurry up”
I was close enough for my old nose
To smell fresh cobbler on the stove
And I saw daddy loadin’ up the truck
    Cane poles on the tailgate
    Bobbers blowin’ in the wind
    Since July of ’55
That’s as close as I’ve been”

He said,”I just climbed out of a cottonwood tree
I was runnin’ from some honey bees
Drip dryin’ in the summer breeze
    After jumpin’ into Calico creek
I was walkin’ down an old dirt road
Past a field of hay that had just been mowed
Man I wish you’d just left me alone

RIP Uncle Richard, sure gonna miss you. I dont have the words to say how much I loved you. You were there in my families darkest hour and were a beacon in the night. You taught this big dumb red neck what a man really was again, taught me forgiveness, humility and compassion. I will miss our varied conversations and those random phone calls while at work. Fly high with the angels and give grandma a kiss for me. Love you old man
