Santiago Anaya Herrera, cariñosamente conocido por familiares y amigos como “Chago”, nació el 3 de marzo de 1942 en Agualeguas, Nuevo León, México, y entró en el descanso eterno el 3 de junio de 2026 en Houston, Texas.

Santiago fue un esposo, padre, hermano, abuelo y amigo profundamente amado y admirado por todos los que tuvieron el privilegio de conocerlo. Fue el pilar de la familia Anaya, un hombre fuerte, bondadoso y extraordinariamente trabajador, cuya vida estuvo guiada por el amor a su familia, la dedicación al trabajo y el deseo constante de brindar una mejor vida a quienes amaba.

Santiago desempeñó un papel fundamental en su familia y mantuvo siempre un profundo amor y respeto por cada uno de sus hermanos y hermanas. Le precedieron en la muerte sus padres, Santiago Anaya Ruiz y Aurora Herrera; así como sus hermanos, Héctor Anaya y José Manuel Anaya.

Le sobreviven su amada esposa de 55 años de matrimonio, María “Juanita” Anaya; su hijo, Néstor Anaya y su esposa, Aimé; sus hijas, Erika Villarreal y su esposo, Iván, y Jessica Chapa y su esposo, Saúl; su hermano, Derly Anaya; sus hermanas, Hilda Chapa y Aurora García; sus nietos, Priscilla, Iván, Erik, Ayana, Karolyna, Katalyna, Kimberly, Mateo y Leah; así como numerosos familiares y amigos que lo apreciaron profundamente.

Santiago fue un esposo amoroso y devoto, y un gran padre que trabajó incansablemente para proveer y asegurar el bienestar de su familia. Se sentía especialmente orgulloso de sus hijos, de sus logros y de las hermosas familias que formaron. Su mayor alegría era ver a sus seres queridos prosperar y mantenerse unidos.

Amaba profundamente a sus nietas y nietos, con quienes compartía tiempo, consejos y enseñanzas de vida. Siempre encontraba la manera de guiarlos con sabiduría, cariño y ejemplo, dejando en cada uno de ellos recuerdos y valores que los acompañarán para siempre.

Chago fue querido por muchos y cultivó amistades duraderas a lo largo de su vida. Su generosidad, nobleza y sentido de comunidad le permitieron ganarse el respeto y el cariño de innumerables personas. Para muchos fue más que un amigo; fue un consejero, un ejemplo y una presencia constante.

Llevó siempre en su corazón su tierra natal de Parás, Nuevo León. Disfrutaba especialmente de las cabalgatas, tradición que representaba para él el orgullo de sus raíces y el amor por su cultura. También sentía una profunda pasión por el campo y por sus ranchos, Los Cerritos y Rancho El Cometa. Conocía cada una de sus vacas a simple vista y encontraba una inmensa satisfacción en el cuidado de sus tierras y animales, reflejo de su dedicación, esfuerzo y conexión con la vida ranchera.

Santiago será recordado con profundo cariño y será extrañado por todos aquellos que compartieron con él momentos inolvidables y hermosos recuerdos. Su legado de amor, trabajo, fortaleza, humildad y dedicación a la familia vivirá para siempre en los corazones de quienes lo amaron. Su ejemplo continuará guiando a las generaciones futuras, y su memoria permanecerá como una bendición para todos los que tuvieron el honor de conocerlo.

Santiago was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend who was admired and respected by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was the pillar of the Anaya family—a strong, kind, and hardworking man whose life was defined by his love for family, dedication to hard work, and unwavering commitment to providing a better life for those he loved.

Santiago naturally assumed the role of leader, protector, and example for his family. He deeply loved and cherished his brothers and sisters throughout his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Santiago Anaya Ruiz and Aurora Herrera, and by his brothers, Héctor Anaya and José Manuel Anaya.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, María “Juanita” Anaya; his son, Néstor Anaya and wife Aimé; his daughters, Erika Villarreal and husband Iván, and Jessica Chapa and husband Saúl; his brother, Derly Anaya; his sisters, Hilda Chapa and Aurora García; his grandchildren, Priscilla, Iván, Erik, Ayana, Karolyna, Katalyna, Kimberly, Mateo, and Leah; as well as numerous relatives and dear friends who loved him deeply.

Santiago was a devoted and loving husband and a remarkable father who worked tirelessly to provide for his family and ensure they had every opportunity to succeed. He took immense pride in his children, their accomplishments, and the beautiful families they built. Nothing brought him greater joy than seeing his loved ones thrive and remain close to one another.

He dearly loved his granddaughters and grandsons and treasured every moment spent with them. He was always ready to share words of wisdom, life lessons, and encouragement, leaving a lasting impact on each of their lives.

Known and loved by many, Chago formed lifelong friendships wherever he went. His generosity, humility, and caring nature earned him the respect and affection of countless people. To many, he was more than a friend he was a mentor, a source of guidance, and a steady presence.

Santiago always carried his homeland of Parás, Nuevo León, close to his heart. He especially enjoyed the traditional cabalgatas, which reflected his deep pride in his heritage and culture. He also had a profound love for ranch life and took great pride in his ranches, Los Cerritos and Rancho El Cometa. He knew each of his cows by sight and found great fulfillment in caring for his land and livestock, a testament to his dedication, work ethic, and connection to the life he loved.

Santiago will be remembered with deep love and admiration and will be greatly missed by all who shared in his life and created cherished memories with him. His legacy of love, hard work, strength, humility, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His example will continue to guide future generations, and his memory will forever remain a blessing to all whose lives he touched.
