Rico, 49, of Houston, Texas, passed away on May 3, 2026. He was a devoted son, father, brother, and friend who will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and deep love for his family.

A lifelong Houstonian, Rico took great pride in his city and was a dedicated fan of the Houston Texans and Houston Astros. He rarely missed a game and made it a point to remind those he loved to tune in and cheer alongside him.

He found joy in life’s simple pleasures, including sports, movies, and music. Music was something he shared deeply with his family, especially his son, creating lasting memories.

Rico was known for his caring nature and ability to bring comfort to others. He encouraged those around him to stay positive, often saying “things could be worse” and reminding them that “the glass is half full.” His selflessness was evident in the way he consistently put others before himself.

His children were his greatest pride and purpose, and his love for them was unwavering.

In the last year of his life, Rico’s faith in God became a central part of who he was. His baptism was deeply meaningful to him and reflected his strong belief and trust in God.

He will be remembered for the love he gave so freely and the impact he had on all who knew him.

Richard Rico is survived by his son, Christian Gonzalez and daughter, Makayla Gonzalez; father Amando Gonzalez alongside his wife Miriam Gonzalez; mother Melva Vargaz; sister Marissa Gonzalez; brothers Jonah Vargaz and Joseph Hinojosa; nieces Alexa Carrasco and husband Nic Carrasco, Avery Montalvo and Violet Vargaz; Family, Dora Betancourt, Tammara Saunders, Tammy Arizmendez, Albert, Kalix and Giovanny Rullier, Miran and Alice Gonzalez and extended family who will continue to honor his memory.
