Ricardo Lozano, age 75, was born on April 15, 1950, in Zuazua, Nuevo León, Mexico, and entered eternal rest on December 14, 2025, in Houston, Texas. Ricardo was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and loyal friend whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of all who knew him. He was a man of faith and, above all, a hardworking man who took great pride in providing for his family.
Ricardo graduated from Jefferson Davis High School in 1970. After graduation, he began his career as a steel rigger before discovering his true calling as a Journeyman Electrician with the IBEW Local 716. He dedicated more than 30 years to this trade, earning a reputation for skill, reliability, and excellence. Ricardo also contributed his expertise to Compean Funeral Home, where he restored vintage exterior fixtures that were once believed to be beyond repair.
Ricardo met the love of his life, Martha Lozano, in 1970 while she was working at the men’s tailor shop in Foley’s. Ricardo’s mother was the only female tailor there, and during his frequent visits to see her, he noticed Martha. After learning who she was, Ricardo asked her out for coffee. Martha politely declined, explaining she was engaged. Ricardo famously replied, “Well, I’m not asking you to marry me, I’m just asking you to coffee.” He continued visiting his mother daily and persistently asked Martha for that cup of coffee until she finally accepted.
What began as a simple friendship grew into a deep bond. Ricardo became Martha’s confidant, and they shared everything with one another. In time, Ricardo told her to forget the other man and marry him. Though surprised, Martha eventually realized she could not imagine life without her best friend. She accepted his proposal, and they were married on May 1, 1971, at Annunciation Catholic Church.
Together, Ricardo and Martha raised four beautiful daughters, who were the center of his world. Through hard work and sacrifice, Ricardo ensured they received a strong education, placing them all through private school. He was proudly known as the “king” of the family—the only man—until the arrival of his grandson, who they named after him Ricardo “Ricky”.
Ricardo had many passions and talents. He was an excellent dancer, loved to barbecue, and was a skilled pool player who competed in tournaments, often “running the table” and earning awards such as Most Valuable Player. He also enjoyed drawing, and many of his sports-themed drawings proudly line the fence in the family’s backyard. Ricardo loved deep-sea fishing, golf, and baseball—there was little he could not do. He also enjoyed taking over the kitchen.
His beloved teacup Yorkie, Miss Cavia, was his constant companion. She followed him everywhere and remained faithfully by his side, even when illness limited his movement.
Ricardo was a loyal friend to many and will always be remembered for his generosity, humor, and unwavering dedication to those he loved.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufino Lozano and Elvira M. Lozano, and his brother, Rogelio Lozano.
He is survived by his loving wife of many years, Martha M. Lozano; his daughters, Melissa Lozano and husband Lucio Gonzalez, Melinda Pitcher and husband Mike, Melanie Lozano, and Michelle Hatcher and husband David; his 5 grandchildren, Marissa Michelle Gutierrez and husband Brandon, Meagan Marie Vargas, Naudia Monique Brookshire and husband Will, Deputy Ricardo Aguirre, and Viana Esposito; his 5 great-grandchildren; and his extended family, Jesus Ortega (Chuy). He also leaves behind numerous extended family members and a host of dear friends.
Ricardo Lozano will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
