Raymundo Cortez Delgado, 81, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 11, 2025 in the presence of his beloved family. He was born on April 13, 1944 in Ejido Paso de Tio Pio, Zaragoza, Coahuila to parents Guadalupe and Julia Cortez.
Raymundo was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend whose kindness and love touched the lives of many. He was a man of integrity, full of live, and above all devoted to God. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior, married his beloved wife, and emigrated to the US where they raised their large family of seven in their faith. He shared his faith joyfully with his family and community, often bringing people closer to the Lord through his music. With his guitar in hand and his voice lifted in song, he would play and sing duets with his wife at the altar, filling hearts with praise and worship. His music, laughter, and humor carried stories and memories leaving a legacy that will forever be remembered.
He worked as a professional painter alongside his late brother. In 1983, he branched out and founded Cortez Painting under the encouragement of his wife, who believed in him and his craft. He worked tirelessly and took pride in his work, ensuring his work reflected the care and dedication he lived by.
Beyond his career, ,his true purpose was his family and his faith. He taught his children and grandchildren the importance of living with love, working hard, and trusting in Christ through all of life's moments.
He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Magdalena Cortez.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 54 years, Teresa Cortez; his sons, Raymond Cortez and Ismael Cortez and wife Erica; his daughters, Maritere Calderone and husband Mariano, Margarita Cortez, Martha McAlister and husband Michael, Julie Perez and husband Bruno, and Adanary Cortez. He is also survived by his 23 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and a host of extended family members and dear friends.
Raymundo will be remembered for his faith, his music, and the love he poured into his family. His legacy will live on through the countless memories he created with those blessed to know him.
