Randall (Randy) Todd Gelino, 60, was born on May 27, 1965 at Fort Campbell, Kentucky and was called to be with his Lord and Savior on February 22, 2026, in Houston, Texas.
Randy was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend to all who knew him. He was deeply family-oriented and strong in his faith, living his life with integrity, compassion, and quiet strength. Randy excelled in everything he set his mind to, approaching both his personal and professional life with unwavering dedication and purpose to improve upon himself.
He began his career with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ), later serving in the federal prison system, and ultimately rising to the position of Senior Federal Air Marshall, a role that reflected his commitment to service and protecting others. Alongside his career, Randy pursued higher education with determination, earning multiple degrees and certifications while working full time.
Randy also shared his knowledge and passion for service as an adjunct professor at San Jacinto Junior College and Lone Star College where he instructed on Criminal Justice and the mentoring of countless students.
Though his work was demanding and high-intensity, Randy most of all cherished the simple moments at home. His greatest pride and joy were his family. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren unconditionally, and he shared a special bond with his best buddy JJ, who affectionately called him “Gug.”
Randy is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Jessica Gelino; and his brother Anthony (Tony) Gelino.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory the love of his life Dorothy, his beloved children Erin, Amanda, and Derrick, his cherished grandchildren Penelope, Emerson and Hector John (JJ), his brothers Freddie (Marty), Russell (Rusty), Ricky and many extended family members and dear friends whose lives were certainly enriched by knowing him.
Randy will be dearly missed and forever remembered for his kindness, his strength, and the love he gave so freely.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that gifts be made to UTHealth Houston, PO Box 20268, Houston, TX 77025-9998 or go.uth.edu/memorial
