Paul Avila Meza, 85, was born in Houston, Texas on January 13, 1938, and was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on January 9, 2024. Paul was a loving husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, nephew, cousin, and dear friend. He was a man of strong faith who loved Jesus and his family with all of his heart. As a proud veteran of the U.S. Army who served in Okinawa, Japan during the Vietnam era, Paul loved his country and remained community-driven throughout his life. He had a passion for music, whether he was playing with his 10-piece orchestra in the ’60s or spending his days at his organ or piano at home, playing his favorite hymns or Frank Sinatra classics. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Christine Meza DelCampo, and 11 of his beloved siblings. Paul leaves behind to cherish and treasure his memories his loving wife of 63 years, Irene Meza; his daughters, Angelina M. Longoria (John Anthony), Sylvia Marie Balderas (Bobby), Sonya Meza Martinez (Mark), Valerie Ann Rosalessorto (Erickssen); his son-in-law, James DelCampo; his siblings, Roy, Lorenzo, Rosie, and Ofelia Meza; his grandchildren, Matthew (Elizabeth), Paul (Clair), Melissa, Christi, Julia, and Alise; his great-grandchild, Luke. He also leaves behind many other loving relatives and a host of good friends. While Paul will be deeply missed by all who knew him, his family takes great comfort in knowing he is rejoicing in Heaven, and we will one day be reunited again.
