Her talent and tenacity eventually earned her a transfer to the Houston stores of Globe Department Stores, where she met her husband, the late Ramon Colorado, Sr. She managed concession operations at Globe with precision and grace, a role she held until she decided to step back from the retail world to dedicate her time to raising her son, Ramon Jr. In the 1980s, she returned to the entrepreneurial path as the owner of Colorado Sales, a muebleria (multipurpose department store) that served as a vital anchor for local families and workers. Yet, for many in the Gulfgate/Golfcrest neighborhood, she was simply the "Sno-cone" or "Raspas" Lady. While managing her home, she kept the spirit of commerce alive with a snack stand that offered sweet, icy relief during the brutal Texas summers, becoming a fixture of childhood for an entire generation.

Palmira was the indomitable historian of the Colorado and Guerrero/Garcia-Suarez families, possessing an encyclopedic knowledge of every birthdate and milestone. She was equally sharp regarding the silver screen; long before IMDb, she was a true scholar of Hollywood trivia, rarely missing her favorite British and American detective serials. A woman of adventurous palate, she was a lifelong foodie who delighted in exploring the world through her kitchen, especially while sharing Vietnamese and Chinese meals with her family. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ramon Colorado, Sr. Left to honor her memory are her son, Ramon Colorado, Jr. and his wife, Linh Hua; her granddaughter, Alma T. Colorado; her brothers, Juan and Jose Sigifredo Larrea; and her sisters, Elvira Butler, Lilia Larrea, Elizabeth Pagan, and Enriquetta Acosta.
