With heavy hearts we share the passing of Omar Jr. Paita “Omarsito” “Borreguito”, who left this world far too soon at the age of 18 on January 10, 2026.He was born on April 6, 2007 in Houston, Texas, to parents Edna Rodriguez-Paita and Omar Paita. From the moment Omar was born, we knew he was destined for great things and he did not disappoint. Omar attended Brookline Elementary School, Stevenson Middle School, Milby High School his freshman and sophomore year and graduated from Cesar E. Chavez High school class of 2025, continuing his education at San Jacinto College to pursue a degree in teaching.
Omar was a proud high school graduate, dedicated multi-sport athlete and beloved Prom King. He competed in soccer as a central defense, cross country, and football, leaving his heart on the field in everything he did. Playing since the age of 4, soccer was one of his greatest passions, a sport that showcased his drive, teamwork and competitive spirit, qualities that defined him both on and off the field. He proudly represented and competed with Barcelona Jr., La Maquinita, Deportivo Houston and Rise Soccer Club. His love for the game continued beyond playing, as he trained, earned his certification and served as a soccer referee. Guided by a compassionate heart and a desire to help others, he was also a blood donor, always looking for ways to make a positive difference in the lives of those around him. These honors not only reflected his achievements but the deep admiration so many had for him.
Known as the life of the party, he had an infectious energy and a beautiful smile that could light up any room he walked into. He loved deeply and genuinely, always showing up for others with loyalty, kindness, and an open heart. His ability to connect with people was rare, and the outpouring of love and messages from friends, classmates, teammates, teachers and the community speaks to the lasting impact he made in such a short time. Omar was a friend to everyone, someone you could count on, someone who made life brighter simply by being present. Though his time here was brief, his legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched and the memories that will be cherished forever.
Omar is survived by his loving parents, Edna and Omar; his brother Angel; his sister Arlette; his grandparents Maria and Martin, Maria-Dolores and Valentin, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins who loved him dearly and will cherish his memory.
A Message from the Family:
Our hearts are broken beyond words. He was our son, our family and our greatest blessing. We are overwhelmed by the love, prayers, and support shown to us during this unimaginable time. Knowing how deeply he was loved by so many brings us comfort and reminds us that his light will never fade. We ask that you remember him not by the way his life ended, but for the way it was lived and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him. May he be remembered for his joy, his kindness, and the love he gave so freely to everyone around him. Please continue to keep our family in your thoughts and prayers as we learn to live with this loss.
