Mario G. Peña, age 62, was born on January 26, 1963, in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico, and entered eternal rest on April 30, 2025, in Houston, Texas.

Mario was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and uncle — a man deeply loved by all who knew him. Affectionately known as “Papi Mario” by his beloved grandchildren, he found his greatest joy in their laughter and presence. He cherished every moment with them, always ready with chocolate popsicles and a little gift to make them smile.

Family was the center of Mario’s world. He lived for his son and, in time, for the family that grew around him. Everything he did — every sacrifice and every effort — was for them. His happiest days were those spent surrounded by his grandbabies, watching them grow and play.

Mario was a hardworking man, known for his humility, generosity, and big heart. He had a natural talent for carpentry and loved working with his hands, crafting things with skill and care. Despite battling cancer for over six years, he remained fiercely independent, never wanting to burden anyone. Through it all, he stayed organized, punctual, and grounded — qualities that defined his character.

He enjoyed the simple pleasures in life: old cartoons, people-watching, and sharing wisdom with neighbors who admired his calm presence and thoughtful advice. He was a pillar in his community and an inspiration to those around him.

Mario is survived by his loving son, David Peña, and daughter-in-law Nallely; his treasured grandchildren, Liam and Emma; and his siblings, Roberto, Carlos, Olga, Aida, Bertha, and Carolina. He also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends who will carry his memory in their hearts.

Mario will be deeply missed, but the love and memories he leaves behind will remain a lasting legacy.
