Maria Guadalupe Gonzalez

Maria Guadalupe Oliva Gonzalez, 90, was born on May 12, 1935, in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, and entered eternal rest on May 19, 2025, in Houston, Texas.

Maria was a devoted mother, a treasured grandmother, fondly known as Granny, and a woman whose love and strength were the heart of her family. She placed great importance on unity and always reminded those around her of the value of staying connected. Her warmth could be felt in every meal she lovingly prepared, and her joyful spirit was often expressed through her deep appreciation for mariachi music. Above all, Maria was deeply faithful, living her life guided by devotion to her Lord and Savior and the love she had for her family.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Francisco Gonzalez. Left to honor and cherish her memory are her daughters, Irma Linda Avila and her husband Jesus, Leticia Flores and her husband John, Lydia Gonzales, Estela Cortes and her husband Alex, and Alicia Rocha and her husband Juan. She is also survived by her brothers, Gerrardo Oliva, Manuel Oliva, and Agustin Oliva, as well as her sisters, Esther Martinez, Josefina Perez, Socorro Oliva, and Martha Fernandez.

Maria’s legacy continues through her eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, along with many extended family members and lifelong friends. She will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her and will be lovingly remembered for the joy, wisdom, and warmth she brought into the lives of others.
