Emblem

Manuel "Munger" Cuevas Gaitan, 71, was born December 18, 1951 in Houston, Texas and entered eternal rest on December 30, 2022 in Houston, Texas.  Manuel "Munger" was a proud graduate of Charles H. Milby High School Class of 1969.  Munger leaves behind his wife Martha Williams, Daughter Sandra Gaitan along with numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family members and friends.  Munger was always out and about helping the community. Most of his community involvement was thru The American Legion Post #472. As a loyal member of The American Legion, Munger helped organize many events that still go on to this day.  The Annual Fish Fry, Christmas Baskets and Veterans Day Breakfast are a staple of The American Legion and Munger was there to lend a helping hand.  Service always seemed to be apart of Mungers life.  He proudly served in The United States Army during the Vietnam-Era and then served for the Texas Army National Guard.  He went to work at Armco, Rhone Poulec and Anheuser- Busch as a machinist. He also Coached at Dixie Little League and was voted President of Dixie Little Year for a year. Munger was always around to lend a helping hand in the community. Frequently called “The Mayor of Magnolia” he was mostly interested in helping people from the neighborhood he grew up. He used his majority of contacts to ensure that whoever needed help got some type of help. Manuel was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. Manuel is preceded in death by his father, Juan Zapata Gaitan, and his mother, Rebecca Cuevas Gaitan; and his brothers, Johnny "Boy" Gaitan, Joseph "Yofo" Gaitan.
