IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Leonard
Gutierrez, Jr.
July 8, 1938 – December 21, 2025
Leonard Gutierrez, Jr., age 87, was born on July 8, 1938, in Palacios, Texas, and entered eternal rest on December 21, 2025, in Houston, Texas. Leonard was a devoted and loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose kindness and warmth touched all who knew him. A dedicated family man, he lived his life with quiet strength, patience, and generosity, and he possessed a great sense of humor that brought comfort and joy to those around him.
Leonard proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he spent most of his career as a hardworking mechanic for the United States Post Office, a role that reflected his strong work ethic, reliability, and mechanical skill.
Outside of work, Leonard enjoyed a wide range of interests. He was an avid sports fan who loved watching all sports, especially the Houston Astros. He found peace and satisfaction in yard work and took great pride in working on cars. Leonard also enjoyed quiet pastimes such as solving crossword puzzles and reading, with a particular fondness for military thrillers. He was equally content watching movies and television, appreciating both entertainment and time spent at home.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Caroline Gutierrez; his son, Leonard Gutierrez III; and his siblings, Ben Gutierrez, Ruben Gutierrez, Oscar Gutierrez, Susie Rios, and Yolanda Jimenez.
Leonard leaves behind to cherish his memory his sons, Fidel Gutierrez and wife Cheryl, and Ray Gutierrez; his daughter, Joanne Gutierrez Mihaly and husband Ricardo; his grandchildren, Matthew and wife Lacey, Valerie and husband Andre “Dre,” Leonard Gutierrez IV, and Maya; and his treasured great-grandchild, Thomas Dash. He is also survived by many other loving family members and a host of dear friends.
Leonard will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of sharing life’s moments and cherished memories with him.
