1949 ~ 2020

Joe Wallace Guillen born November 13th of Houston Texas, succumbed to Covid-19 and journeyed to heaven on July 15, 2020. He is survived by the love of his life Mary of 49 years, his daughter Jeannie, his sons Steven-wife Esthela and Adrian Joseph, his whole world his grandchildren Maddison, Matthew, Miranda and Adela. His mother Carmen Banda, brothers Conrad Ybarra, Joe Banda, John Banda, sisters, Patricia Aguilar, Linda de la Cerda,  Jeanette Arismendez and Sylvia Cruz. He is preceded in death by his adopted grandmother Aurora Guillen and stepfather Joe Cruz Banda. He grew up in 2nd ward Texas, Clayton Homes and loved his church Our Lady of Guadalupe where he had many friends. Lance Corporal Guillen honorably and proudly served in the United States Marines Corp as a military police officer. He was given a Purple Heart medal for wounds received in action during The Vietnam War 1969; National Defense Service Medal; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device; Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation Gallantry Cross Color; and a Vietnam Service Medal with one star. When he returned he later married his high school sweetheart Mary who he truly adored until his last breath. Joe loved to serve his community and those in need. He enjoyed playing and managing quite a few men's fastpitch softball teams Stewart & Stevenson, Poco Loco, Paisanos, Buddy's to name a few and would win lots of big games. He had a great passion for Tejano music, he traveled all over promoting and managing thousands of successful shows. He loved to share his stories of all the great entertainers he stood by. His proudest stage moments and memories were with La Mafia and with Selena y Los Dinos. He will be missed by so many and his legacy will carry on thru his grandchildren. Joe, enjoy the music up above in the mountains of the Lord.
