Obituary

Gilberto “Pransta” Perez, age 52, was born on December 29, 1973, in Houston, Texas, and passed away on August 2, 2026, in League City, Texas.

Gilberto was a proud Houstonian with a larger-than-life personality, a creative spirit, and a heart devoted above all else to his family. Funny, outgoing, energetic, and never shy, he had a natural ability to light up a room. He loved making people laugh and smile, and those who knew him will remember his kindness, honesty, generosity, and the genuine way he cared for others. He was a great communicator, a loyal friend, and someone who could always be counted on for support, help, or good advice.

Music was one of Gilberto’s greatest passions. A talented rapper and rap artist who spent more than 30 years involved in Houston’s music scene, he was also a gifted creative writer and songwriter. His creativity extended beyond music to drawing and art. He loved having fun, trying new things, taking risks, traveling, and attending concerts. He lived with an unmistakable energy and enthusiasm that made time spent with him memorable.

Gilberto was also an avid sports fan and athlete. He was a Houston Rockets season ticket holder and played football in both high school and college, as well as basketball, softball, and baseball. Whether through sports, music, art, or simply spending time with the people he loved, Gilberto embraced life wholeheartedly.

He was a hardworking and responsible man who served as a supervisor for many years. He was also an animal lover who fostered dogs and deeply loved his three dogs, Rocky, Bella, and Minnie. His favorite color was purple, a fittingly vibrant color for someone with such a lively and unforgettable personality.

Of all the roles Gilberto held throughout his life, none meant more to him than being a father. As a single father, he raised his daughter, Savannah Jordan Perez, with tremendous love and devotion. Their relationship was exceptionally close—father and daughter, but also best friends. They were proud of one another, supported one another, traveled together, attended concerts together, and shared countless experiences side by side. Gilberto wanted to do everything he could for Savannah, and the love he had for his daughter was evident in the way he lived his life.

Gilberto also treasured his extended family and took great pride in being a son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and grandson. He was the kind of friend who showed up when someone needed him and the kind of family member who put others before himself. His big heart, infectious energy, humor, creativity, and unwavering love will remain with everyone fortunate enough to have known him.

Gilberto is survived by his parents, Francisco G. Perez and Maria Dolores Arias Perez; his beloved daughter, Savannah Jordan Perez; his brother, Samuel Perez; his sisters, Rebecca Medina, Angelica Perez, and Elizabeth Cox; four nieces; six nephews; his cherished dogs, Rocky, Bella, and Minnie; and many other loving relatives and dear friends.

Gilberto “Pransta” Perez will be remembered for the music he created, the laughter he brought into every room, the friendships he nurtured, and the love he gave so freely. Above all, he will be remembered as a devoted father with a big heart whose presence made life brighter for the people around him.

His voice, laughter, creativity, and love will never be forgotten, and his legacy will live on through his daughter, his family, his music, and the many lives he touched.
