Estella Benavidez Ramos
Estella Benavidez Ramos was born on November 11, 1941 in El Campo, Texas to parents Fernando and Estella Benavidez. She moved on to her “Heavenly Home” on June 10, 2022. Estella was preceded in death by her husband Luis T. Ramos. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Ernesto Benavidez, Joe Benavidez, Ignacio “I B” Benavidez, Fernando Benavidez and her sisters Isabel Aguilar, Norma Rodriguez, Angelita Sanchez and Mary Garcia. “Stellita,” as her brothers and sisters liked to call her, was the baby of her family and the last living Benavidez sibling. Estella is survived by 8 children…son Ezequiel Ramos and wife Veronica; daughters Norma Bustamante and husband Enrique, Nora Ramos, Linda Lopez and husband Oscar, Nelda Torres and husband Gerardo, Lisa Ramirez, Elizabeth Carrillo and husband Noel, and Sandra Limas and husband Marzo. Her children are broken hearted but they take comfort in knowing that their mother and father are together again in a place where there is no sickness, no pain, no tears...just peace and joy.
Her greatest treasures were her 20 grandchildren…Jesse Arenivas Jr., Oscar Lopez Jr., Fernando Ramos, Esteban Marquez Jr., Blanca Leija, Joshua Arenivas, Luis Lopez, Bernadino Marquez, Jayme Ramirez Jr., Jessica Carrillo, Diamond Arenivas, Enrique Marquez, Amanda Blackmon, Danielle Cantu, Cruz Angel Bustamante, Norma Jean Solares, Cassandra Arizmendi, Crystal Bustamante, Ezequiel Ramos Jr., and Angelica Ramos. She was also blessed with 50 great-grandchildren and a great-great grandson, Gabino Jr. Nothing brought her more happiness than when her grandbabies came to visit. Her eyes would light up when she saw them. She loved to hold and play with each one. She gave them all unconditional love and advice as adults. They all adored her. She was their beautiful grandma…their “abuelita bonita.”
Estella was a loving and devoted wife to her husband of 60 years, Luis T. Ramos. They met, fell in love and married young. They worked hard to build a life together…always putting God and then family first. He treated her like a queen and worked hard to make sure that she always had whatever her heart desired. She had the best taste in fashion and loved to collect purses, shoes and jewelry. She had the best sense of style too. Her home was always beautifully decorated...she had a green thumb and could grow anything. She loved to shop for herself and her family. She was so generous and was always giving away something to her daughters, granddaughters, granddaughter-in-laws, grandsons, and anyone else who was blessed enough to spend time with her. You never left grandma’s house empty-handed.
She also loved to watch Christian programming. Her TV was stuck on TBN and Jimmy Swaggart. She knew every singer, preacher and choir member that would come out on his program. Estella knew where her real home was…not here on earth...but in Heaven. Her last words were “I’m going home”…we rejoice knowing that this is where she waits for all of us…she is reunited with the love of her life Luis, her family members, and, most importantly, with her Father in Heaven and his son Jesus. Her greatest wish was for all her family members to be saved so that they could join her and spend eternity, together as a family, in her "home."
