Esteban "Chino" Efren Sanchez, born on September 30, 2014, in Pasadena, Texas, peacefully passed away on March 17, 2026, in Houston, Texas. Though his time with us was brief, Esteban's presence was a bright and joyful light to all who knew him, and his memory will be cherished by many.
From a young age, Esteban was a remarkable son and brother whose heart was filled with love and laughter. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of childhood—playing outdoors, fishing, riding his jeep, and delighting in the game of soccer. Yet among all his passions, Esteban's greatest love was his faith. He found solace and inspiration in the word of God, often spending quiet moments lying on his bed, reading and highlighting his Bible, especially the book of Proverbs. His favorite scripture, Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me," was etched deeply in his heart and beautifully reflected in the way he approached life.
Musically gifted, Esteban was the first chair in the choir of the Beginner Band where he played the trumpet with enthusiasm and skill. He mastered the notes swiftly and found particular joy in performing “El Señor Es Mi Rey, Mi Todo,” a song that resonated with his devotion and spirited personality, he also loved playing the song "Yeshua." Known for his playful and mischievous nature, Esteban brought laughter and happiness to family and friends alike, his infectious humor leaving a lasting impression on those around him.
Esteban was deeply loved by his family. He was the cherished son of Samuel and Hiliana Sanchez. He shared an unbreakable bond with his brothers, Julian Samuel Sanchez, Aaron Sanchez, and Benjamin Sanchez, as well as his sister, Deborah Sanchez. He was equally adored by his paternal grandparents, Marcos Galicia Sanchez and Consuelo Sanchez, and his maternal grandparents, Luis Manuel Flores and Paulina Salgado. Beyond his immediate family, Esteban's warmth enriched numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and a broad circle of friends who all held him dearly in their hearts.
Though his journey was cut far too short, Esteban "Chino" Efren Sanchez leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and joy that will forever inspire those who were privileged to know him. His spirit remains an enduring testament to a life lived with kindness, faith, and laughter. He will be deeply missed dearly from friends and teachers at Veterans Memorial Intermediate.
