Dora Luz Ramos, beloved wife, mother, step-mother, memaw, sister, and teacher, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2025, at the age of 71, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on October 23, 1953, in Valle Hermoso, Tamaulipas, México, Dora’s life was marked by quiet strength, boundless generosity, and an unwavering devotion to family and service.

Dora, at a young age, with her family relocated to Monterrey, Nuevo León, where her father pursued better educational opportunities for his children. Dora began her teaching career in Mexico and later moved to Houston, Texas, at age 20.

She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston and continued her calling as a bilingual elementary school teacher. Dora spent 28 years in the classroom, retiring in 2008. Her dedication extended far beyond her teaching duties—she often made sure her students had what they needed, from school supplies to warm meals.

Dora is survived by her loving husband, Ricardo Ramos; her daughter, Annebel Dale (Chris Dale); her stepchildren: Regina Ermisch (Karl), Angel Ramos (Laura), and Vivian VandenBout (Pete); and her grandchildren: Mercedes, Lily, Katya, Sofía, Lukas, Nico, Raegan, Maddie, Teddy, and Camille.

Dora was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Rebecca Bernal; her brother, Ronaldo Bernal; her niece, Melissa Rodriguez; her granddaughter, Gabriella Ramos; and her grandsons, Christian Michael and Nicholas David VandenBout.

Dora had a nurturing heart and a quiet strength that anchored everyone around her. She was known for her deep empathy, her unwavering support for her loved ones, and her willingness to show up—no matter the circumstances.
