Carol Niemi

Carol Arden Niemi, 63

Carol Arden Niemi passed away in the presence of family at Harbor Hospice of Houston on May 29, 2022. She was 63 years old and had spent over a month dealing with an advanced case of  cancer.

Carol was born in International Falls, Minnesota, to Benhard Eugene and Audrey Luverne (Sterna) Niemi on September 8, 1958. She was the youngest of six children in their blended family. She spent some years in South Bend, Indiana, with Richard E. Niemi and Holly R. Niemi and was very grateful to have been welcomed and nurtured in their home prior to her high school graduation there.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Barbara C. Tyman. She was very involved in caring for all three in their final days.

Carol is survived by four siblings – Richard E. Niemi, South Bend, Ind., Philip R. Niemi (Geri Corrigan), International Falls, Minn., William J. Niemi (Lori), Mt. Vernon, Iowa, and Nancy E. Lund (Richard), Downers Grove, Ill. She is also mourned by three nieces, a nephew, and numerous beloved friends.

Carol moved to Houston in 1990. She worked at Dow Chemical for several years before developing her passion for spirituality and healing into a massage therapy business. She became an entrepreneur. She studied many aspects of health and wellness and shared knowledge with family, friends, and massage therapy clients. Carol wrote, published and marketed a book, Healing Loss. She was ordained in the ministry of the Foundation for Christ Consciousness in 2009.

Carol loved making and listening to music and was a skilled pianist. She was also the adoring guardian of multiple cats over the years. She was delighted that her cats Onyx and Sunshine were able to find loving homes in her final days.

Her funeral is planned for Friday, June 3, beginning with a viewing at 2:00 PM, service at 3:00 PM and light refreshments afterward. The service can be accessed on the Compean Funeral Home’s website simultaneously or anytime for the next thirty days. A family memorial service will take place at a later date.

Carol’s remains will be buried at Forest Hill Cemetery, International Falls.
