Anita Puente Muñoz, 79, of Houston, Texas, entered into eternal rest on October 12, 2025, in her beloved hometown of Houston. She was born on August 26, 1946, to Antonio Puente, Sr. and Carmen Dominguez Puente.
Anita was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend whose kindness and love touched everyone who knew her. She will be remembered for her generous heart, strong faith, and joyful spirit that brought light to her family and community.
A woman of deep faith and service, Anita dedicated much of her life to her church and community. She was a CYO Sponsor at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She taught CCE at St. Ambrose Catholic Church for many years, sharing her love of faith with countless children. Anita proudly served the Altar Society and Catholic Daughters at St. Ambrose Catholic Church. She is a current parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and at one time helped with the SRL Food Pantry, where she faithfully supported those in need. Her love for service continued as a Special Olympics Unified Bowling Partner for many years.
Beyond her service, Anita enjoyed life’s simple joys — cheering on her beloved Houston Astros and Rockets, listening and dancing to Tejano music especially Little Joe y La Familia.
Anita was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Antonio Puente, Sr. and Carmen Dominguez Puente; her husband, Manuel Zamora Muñoz; her son, Manuel Alfred “Freddy” Muñoz; her great-granddaughters, Marandah and Marcelah Alvarez; and her brother, Rodolfo Puente.
Left to cherish her beautiful memory are her loving daughters, Deanna Muñoz, Dana Marie Muñoz and her husband Mark Perez, and Antoinette Lizcano and her husband David; her brothers, Antonio Jr., Mario, Joe Louis, and Andrew Puente; her sister, Carolyn Cantu; her grandchildren, Adrian, Marissa, Andres, Noah, and Jayden; and her great-grandchildren, Mariah, Marabellah, and Marlanah. She also leaves behind many other cherished family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply.
Anita will be forever remembered for the love she gave so freely, the laughter she shared, and the faith that guided her. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love her.
