Angela Michelle Castro was born on February 9, 1982, in Houston, Texas, to Maria Castro and Santiago Castro, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her younger brother, Miguel Castro.
Angela lived a life marked by strength, sacrifice, and an unwavering love for her family. To those who knew her, she was affectionately known as “Big G”—a name that reflected the big heart she carried for the people she loved.
Life did not always make things easy for Angela. She experienced the pain of losing her mother, who was seriously ill with diabetes and suddenly found herself caring for her younger brother, Miguel full time. It wasn’t long before she found herself the remaining member of her family. Through these difficult years, Angela continued to give of herself to the people she loved. She knew hardship, responsibility, and loss, but she continued moving forward.
Angela found joy in the simple things in life. She loved to dance, she loved to cook, and most of all, she loved being a mother to her son, Michael. Raising Michael was her greatest accomplishment and the part of her life she cherished most.
Her greatest hope was always for her son. Angela wanted Michael to have opportunities that life had not given her. She wanted him to finish high school, continue his education, and build a better life for himself. Michael, now 16, attends YES Prep High School, and his mother's greatest wish was to see him finish what he started and go on to a brighter future.
Although Angela's life was not always easy, she gave Michael something far more valuable than material things—her love, her strength, and the example of a mother who never stopped fighting for her child. Her greatest legacy will live on through him.
Angela passed away on August 7, 2026, at the age of 44. She leaves behind her beloved son, Michael, along with family and friends who will carry her memory in their hearts.
Angela's life reminds us that a person's legacy is not measured by how easy their journey was, but by how much love they gave along the way. She endured hardships, cared for those who needed her, and above all, loved her son with everything she had.
Her journey may have ended, but the love she gave, the memories she created, and the dreams she had for Michael will continue through him.
May she rest peacefully, knowing that the greatest wish of her heart—to see her son have a better life—will continue to live on.
